Security Alert: Trust Wallet Flaw

A vulnerability has been identified in the iOS version of Binance's Trust Wallet, as recorded by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This agency, which is responsible for establishing technology and cybersecurity standards in the U.S., added the flaw to the Critical Vulnerability Enumeration (CVE) database on February 8.

Investigation and Impact

The seriousness of the vulnerability is under NIST investigation to assess its real-world implications. The database indicates that the Trust Wallet exploit has been utilized in the wild, leading to unauthorized access and theft by allowing attackers to deduce security phrases through the trezor-crypto library.

Trust Wallet's Recent Hurdles

Last year, Trust Wallet faced several cyber attacks resulting in a cumulative loss of over $4 million. Acquired by Binance in 2018, the company has faced critiques while Binance launched a separate Web3 wallet. Trust Wallet has remained silent on social media platforms regarding the issue.
