SEC Accusations

Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has leveled accusations of fraud against Akarlap Yimwilai, the former CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Zipmex Thailand. An official statement released on Thursday pointed to alleged deceptive practices related to the handling of customer assets.

Unlawful Transfers

The SEC's findings indicate that assets within the exchange's Z Wallet were moved to overseas digital wallets without proper disclosure to users, contrasting what was previously reported by Zipmex Thailand. The regulatory body has deemed these actions as fraudulent.

Regulatory Actions

Following these findings, the SEC lodged a legal complaint against Yimwilai and has temporarily halted the operation of Zipmex Thailand's trading and brokerage services. The exchange's platforms remain inaccessible, and further investigative steps are ongoing.
