International Crypto Regulation Conversations

South Korea's Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) leader, Lee Bok-hyun, has affirmed a continuance of dialogue with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) about regulatory approaches, notably spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

Focus on Bitcoin Spot ETFs

In a recent disclosure, Lee Bok-hyun noted that he had already met with SEC Chairman Gary Gensler earlier this year to concentrate on virtual asset issues and the possibility of bitcoin spot ETFs, a subject garnering international regulatory interest following the U.S.'s approval.

Strengthening International Cooperation

The bilateral discussions aim to align regulatory schedules and bolster cooperation, building upon the initial meet-up in January which was set to navigate crypto regulation synchronization between South Korea and the U.S.
