Ripple Expands U.S. Presence with Acquisition
Ripple is looking to expand its regulatory licensing within the United States by striking a deal to acquire Standard Custody & Trust Co., thereby securing a New York trust charter. This strategic move will enhance Ripple's ability to offer in-house services such as asset tokenization for financial institutions.
Strengthening Infrastructure
Despite being embroiled in a legal battle with the SEC, Ripple is pushing to broaden its financial product offerings. Ripple President Monica Long expressed the company's intention to build upon existing infrastructure, enhancing the services provided to their institutional clientele through blockchain technology.
Ripple's Cryptocurrency Custody
The new acquisition will not only bring crypto custody and settlement operations to Ripple's portfolio, but also aligns with their prior purchase of cryptocurrency custody firm, Metaco. While Ripple continues its fight against SEC's allegations regarding XRP, they remain optimistic about potential leadership roles in the U.S. regarding digital asset innovation.
