NFL Star Gronkowski Agrees to $1.9M Settlement in Crypto Lawsuit

Gronkowski Settles Crypto Claims

Rob Gronkowski, the notable NFL athlete, has agreed to a settlement of $1.9 million addressing customer claims stemming from cryptocurrency lender Voyager Digital. This settlement is pending a court approval and derives from a lawsuit filed by disappointed Voyager investors.

The Pool and Promoters

Alongside Gronkowski, in contributing to a compensatory pool of $2.4 million, are NBA's Victor Oladipo and NASCAR's Landon Cassill. This action follows their association with the company as promoters, dates back to Gronkowski's engagement in September 2021 as a brand ambassador and VGX token holder. Voyager has since declared bankruptcy in 2022.

Legal Proceedings and Industry Irony

As this settlement transitions to a court approval stage, humor arose during a comedic event featuring Tom Brady, Gronkowski's ex-teammate, as jokes were made about athletes' involvement with cryptocurrency endorsements. The legal proceedings continue with other defendants slated for trial in November 2024.
