
Introducing PoSP in Decentralized AI
At the edge of blockchain and AI, Hyperbolic's co-founder Jasper Zhang—a mathematician celebrated for earning gold medals in international math olympiads and rapidly acquiring a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley—is pioneering a new verification protocol. The company has unveiled “Proof of Sampling (PoSP)” to enhance trust and efficiency in decentralized AI networks. Developed collaboratively with researchers from Berkeley and Columbia University, PoSP is a blend of mathematical, computer science, and economic principles. It uses sophisticated sampling methods combined with game theory to streamline computational demands and encourage honest participation in decentralized systems.
Advancing Network Verification
Zhang, along with his team, stated that PoSP represents an evolution in the mechanisms for network verification, ranging beyond consensus and cryptographic proofs. This novel protocol aims to benefit not only AI but also blockchain layers and actively validated services grounded in restaking protocols like EigenLayer. A research paper providing an in-depth look at PoSP was shared on arXiv and is pending peer review. The paper describes the backbone of the protocol's strategy, referring to it as a 'pure strategy Nash Equilibrium', a game-theoretical concept pioneered by famed mathematician John Nash.
Launching spML for AI Verification
Hyperbolic's latest offering, “spML,” anchors itself on PoSP to establish a verification framework for AI that promises to outperform current methodologies in speed, security, and cost-effectiveness. With this technical groundwork laid, the stage is set for practical demonstrations of spML’s capabilities. These innovations hold significant potential for the future of decentralized systems and AI, leaving the industry watchful for Hyperbolic’s next moves.
